Caramel Basbousa Cheesecake with New York-style Filling

Ingredients:

  • 1 box Basbousa mix
  • 2 containers of Norman's Kosher Cholov Yisroel Cream Cheese (16oz total)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. Mix the Basbousa mix and melted butter until well combined. Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. Bake for 15 minutes until lightly golden brown. Let cool.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  5. Stir in the sour cream and pour the cheesecake mixture over the cooled Basbousa crust.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes until set. Let cool to room temperature and then chill for at least 2 hours.
  7. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the top of the chilled cheesecake before serving.
